Individual REALTOR® vs. Team Member
IS JOINING A TEAM RIGHT FOR YOU?
The most common question I get asked when interviewing new to industry REALTORS® is: What's the difference between being on a Team Vs. being an individual REALTOR®?
The answer is; it really depends on what you're looking for in your career. Both have pros and cons. For this BLOG we're going to be focusing on being on a team and how MaxWell Devonshire Realty supports them.
JOINING A TEAM; WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
There's tremendous value in joining a Team in Real Estate. Whether you're new to the industry or have been in it for a while.
- All of your marketing is going to be taken care of for you.
- You're joining an established brand with a proven record of success
- LEADS - because of the established marketing materials and processes, you can anticipate getting more leads.
- Some Teams provide an abundance of online leads as well.
- Assistants; allowing you to focus on providing value to your clients and selling. Let them handle the administrative tasks.
- Coaching from your Team Lead or Team Trainer and larger sense of support
- Regular Team meetings
However there's also some things to consider when you're joining a Team.
- You're building the Team's brand and not your own
- You will be paying the Team either a percentage of your commissions or a deal fee whenever you complete a sale
- You will still be responsible for your Brokerage/Board/Licensing Body's fees
- You will most likely have sales quotas to ensure you are remaining profitable for the Team
- You can sometimes have the sense of being an employee vs. being the entrepreneur you set out to be
- You will have to follow the Team's processes and ways of doing business
